A Muslim girl, aged about 18 years, was brought to me by her husband for a lunacy certificate, in order to detain her in one of the lunatic asylums at Madras. The history given to me was that she was married in her 16th year. She was quite healthy prior to her marriage. Four months after her marriage she was found to be dull and apathetic. Her menses stopped and now and then she vomited. She was suspected to be pregnant. In the 8th month of her supposed pregnancy she was one day found in a fit, foaming from her mouth. She was treated for eclampsia with no beneficial results. Since then she behaved like an insane
